Bjarni Gunnarsson is an Icelandic composer / sound artist born in 1980 in Reykjavík. As a member of the electronic music duo Einóma, he has released numerous LP´s, EP´s, compilation tracks and remixes on labels like Vertical Form, Thule, Uni:form, Spezial Material, Trachanik, Lamadameaveclechien and Shipwrec. Bjarni has perfomed his music in concerts and festivals in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Ireland and Iceland.

Bjarni has presented his electro-acoustic work in various configurations such as at the WFS system in Leiden (192 speakers), the WFS system in Berlin (832 speakers) and the BEAST system in Birmingham (up to 100 speakers) as well as recent 8 and 4 channel formations.

Bjarni studied composition with Gerard Pape, Trevor Wishart, Agostino Di Scipio and Curtis Roads at the CCMIX music center in Paris and he is currently completing a masters degree at the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of music in Den Haag. Bjarni also hold a degree in computer science from the University of Reykjavík.

A collection of his solo works composed before 2009 can be found on the CD “Safn 2006-2009” which was released by the Belgium label Lamadameaveclechien in January 2010.

Currently Bjarni is working on studies in algorithmic composition, how to vision and design composition environments, create musical compositions, composition software and make aesthetics analysis of process based music with connective elements. He is also working on new material with Einóma, his duo of voice and electronics with Marie Guilleray (MGBG) and working on real-time applications for the performance of electronic music.
